The colours and nature really inspired me to create pieces that reflect the wonderful golden colours of the landscape, the greens and many many more colours.I wanted to create textured rings with multiple gemstones to represent the intense rich colours and variety of those areas. Especially as many of the golden citrines originated from Kenya. This Wine coloured Ring is inspired by the sunset on the lakes, features five Garnets of different shapes. I’ve decided to mount this spectacular stone in a simple textured Ring to highlight the gemstone. Posted on July 31, 2020July 31, 2020 With more of us spending time in our gardens and local outdoor spaces we take a look at some of the fruits of the garden and how they inspire Disa in her work. Summer time in Britain brings with it gluts of courgettes, juicy tomato harvests, and scented herbs galore! Beetroot and beans, potatoes and lettuces, all can be dug up, plucked and picked for our culinary delight! If you’re a jeweller however, it’s not just the taste that appeals. The shine on a ripe red tomato will instantly remind you of rich cabouchon garnets and rubies. The aroma of crushed mint mixed in to a homegrown potato salad will nudge you in to sourcing tourmalines. Making a garden salad can inspire a whole collection!Like many others Disa has turned to her garden for calm and reassurance through an uncertain time. Finally the work is starting to pay off! We caught her inspecting her crops while the infamous Molo the dalmation watches on.Molo has more interesting things to investigate as Disa checks on her tomatoes. It’s difficult not to make the connection between the greens of the unripe tomatoes and these tourmalines…This bunch are on the turn, becoming riper by the day. The intense yellows are starting to come through as they warm to that rich tomato red we all recognise. This yellow tourmaline has a distinct lime hue just like the ripening tomatoes!Mint Tourmaline 18k Gold Ring – good enough to eat! Peridot and Green Tourmaline 18k Gold Cluster Ring – Below: Garnet and Pink Tourmaline Cluster RingIt’s not just the colours that can inspire either. Look at these Cluster Rings – remind you of anything? We’ve had just the right conditions this year in the UK for bountiful harvests – lots of sunshine followed by lots of rain, followed by more sun. These plums will soon be ready for making jams and chutneys!Hessonite Garnet and Yellow Zircon Ring – Hessonite Garnets have that gorgeous peachy tone that is hard to resist. This peach Moonstone pretty much sums up the image above! This Triple Garnet 18k Gold ring has the deep reds of summer berries. When it all comes together!
