Goldsmiths’ Fair Goes Online for 2020!

Category: bespoke

In light of this years challenges the annual jewellery event of the year has moved online to bring you the latest work from the UK’s top makers. Dates for Goldsmiths Online are 24th September – 6th October.

The new website launches on 24th September featuring this years selected makers. Disa is excited to be part of this years Goldsmiths’ Fair as it moves online for the first time in 38 years.

As part of reaching the Goldsmiths’ Fair audience online, Disa has created an exclusive video of herself in the workshop. She talks you through part of the process of creating her signature Spaghetti Rings while annealing the metal. This is a heating process that makes the metal more malleable. Watch her here and let us know what you think!

In addition to the designer-maker pages Goldsmiths’ Fair will be continuing with their popular Talks Programme. These include discussions around designers’ approaches to the making process as well as social and historical issues around Jewellery and Silversmithing.

Goldsmiths’ Online is set to be an exciting event and we hope you join us there! Disa will be available for all enquiries received over the two weeks. To register for free entry to the Online show follow this link.

Four weeks, give or take, since social distancing has been in place so we thought we would check in and let you know how things are going here at Disa Allsopp Ltd.

With her small team all working from home Disa has had the workshop to herself and has been designing for clients and testing out new ideas. Until a week ago she shared her outdoor space with a nesting Robin and three chicks! She has shared some beautiful pictures on Instagram. They have now flown the nest meaning Disa and Molo the Dalmation can again enjoy their garden in peace!

The team have been working on expanding Disa Allsopp’s online presence. We are excited to share with you the new shopping features on Disa’s Instagram and Facebook. This means it is easier to view the details of anything Disa shares with you on social media. Just tap on the image and you will be taken to the product page.

On this lovely Spring day we wish all of you good health and hope you are finding ways to enjoy the simple things during this difficult time. Thank you to all our clients and followers, we really appreciate your ongoing support!

Disa and the Team xxx

Disa Allsopp has always travelled a lot, growing up in Barbados with adventurous parents. She visits Kenya on a regular basis as inspiration and sourcing expeditions. This winter she visited one of her suppliers with direct links to the mine where this cabouchon ruby was discovered and cut.

This deep pink ruby is set simply in an 18k yellow gold rub-over setting with an open back to allow as much light play as possible. Poised on one of Disa’s signature organic texture bands this ring is all about show casing this unique stone in all its glory.

Enjoy the warmth and depth of colour as we head in to this fresh March weekend! To find out more about it email disa.allsopp@gmail.com or get in touch through the contact page.

When Disa saw this Rhodolite Garnet on a stone sourcing trip to Kenya she fell in love with its warm flashes of raspberry, fuschia and scarlet. Beautifully cut to reflect and refract light, Disa has framed it in a tapered 18k yellow gold rubover setting. Sitting on one of her signature organic texture 18k gold bands this ring would make a fabulous engagement ring, or a meaningful gift for an anniversary or birthday.

Disa has been working with the online shopping experience 1st Dibs for a year now. 1st Dibs showcases high end design and provides a platform for independent designers and boutiques around the world. Have a look at the site if in need of anything from furniture to fashion.

We have put the new 18k gold rhodolite garnet ring on Disa’s 1st Dibs store and invite you to view the stunning images and imagine yourself wearing this one off piece. It really is a unique stone and we can’t wait to send it to it’s new home!

Commissioning an item of jewellery can be a daunting process, either if starting out from scratch or reworking a pre-loved piece. Not so a commission by Disa Allsopp!

Disa has years of experience working with clients to create a piece unique them. The process most often begins with a visit to Disa in her London studio to discuss the options. Often, from looking at her current collections, a decision can be made about the design in this initial meeting.

If more time is needed to develop the design, this is the point measurements are taken, ideas are discussed and from there Disa can source stones, create mock ups, sketch out ideas, whatever is needed to move the process on.

Testimonials from past clients describe commissioning bespoke work from Disa as ‘revitalisation by a brilliant designer’, and creating work that becomes ‘unquestionably my favourite piece of jewellery’.

If you have an idea that you would like to discuss with Disa, get in touch either through our contact page or by emailing disa.allsopp@gmail.com

Below a recent commissioned piece, 18k yellow reticulated gold, with three aquamarines flush set in to the chunky band. Disa loved making this piece, saying ‘The textures in this ring frame the watery aquamarines beautifully. The client just loved it, and I enjoyed working on such a substantial ring.’
