‘Fire & Facets’, New Opal Jewellery Exhibition at Gill Wing Posted on August 17, 2018 ‘Fire & Facets’ is the latest exhibition at the newly refurbished Gill wing Jewellery Gallery on Upper Street , London. Guest curated by New York Jewellery Blogger ‘A Thousand Facets’, the show features unique designs from leading contemporary jewellers featuring bespoke gems from Australia’s famous Lightning Ridge hand cut by palaeontology student Loren Gurche. Disa was asked to take part in this collaboration at the beginning of the year. After selecting an Opal from Gurche’s collection she set about designing a ring that would best demonstrate the unique features of the Opal. It is set in 18k yellow Gold which adds a warmth to the piece and highlights the value of the Opal. The use of a rectangular cut Iolite creates a contrast with the organic shape of the Opal and picks out the purple and blue flashes within the stone. A wide, heavily textured band is reminiscent of the striking landscape that the Opal originates from. Last night was the grand opening of the show at Gill Wing Jewellery. The fizz was flowing and visitors were treated to a multi-sensory celebration of the mysterious & beautiful opal. With over 20 Jewellery Designers, award winning perfumer Sarah McCartney at 4160 Tuesdays London, complemented by Richard Weston’s Opal print scarves, it was a busy and fun evening. The exhibition continues to 16th September 2018, the knowledgable and welcoming staff at Gill Wing will talk you through the work designed especially for ‘Fire & Facets’, prepare to fall in love with the mysterious and enticing Opal! cof dav dav Post navigation Disa Allsopp to Exhibit her Jewellery in New York, August 2018 at NY NowDisa Allsopp Exhibiting at Goldsmiths’ Fair 2018
