We love displaying the jewellery in the sunny studio, chilling the champagne and preparing the nibbles! As plans have changed through the current crisis we have been adapting as best we can and hope you will enjoy viewing Disa’s work in a safe and accessible way. We have been adding new work regularly to Disa’s Web-shop. This includes some great new textural earrings and rings that Disa has designed with everyday wear in mind. The Open Studio is usually an opportunity to see a huge range of Disa’s work, past and present, and we will be representing this over the coming weeks with the work we add to the Web-shop. So do keep checking in to see what has been added each week.If you use social media, you may have seen Disa on a few different accounts of late! Last week she was interviewed live on Instagram TV by Toronto based Rue Pigalle. Discussing her inspirations, processes and special commissions, it was a really lively conversation where people could put forward their own questions to Disa. She has also been featured in an article by Rachel Garrahan, Jewellery Director for British Vogue. If you would like to hear more about these events before they happen then follow Disa on Instagram and Facebook where Disa herself posts updates, news and work finished hot off the bench! If you have ideas for commissions or want to discuss purchasing a piece directly then Disa is always available via her Contact Page. She is also able to give you a virtual viewing of work via Zoom should you wish to talk face to face!In addition to this we are happy to announce that Disa is now able to arrange meetings in the studio by appointment for one person at a time. Disa will provide hand sanitiser on arrival and a clean safe space to show the collection and discuss your ideas.Thank you for reading about how we are doing our best to keep you abreast of Disa’s work through this difficult time. Most recently she has made this statement ring for a client who wanted to mark a moment in time and create a new family heirloom. This stunning piece was handmade in her London studio using diamonds from a pre-owned ring. Disa combined these with a baguette cut Kenyan Aquamarine on a wide lightly melted band. The positioning of the Aquamarine creates a contrasting line with the tapering diamonds. The client is over the moon with her new Disa Allsopp original and will be able to pass this down to the next generations. If you would like to speak to Disa about your own ideas for a bespoke item please email her on disa.allsopp@gmail.com. Some Sparkle for the Holiday Season Posted on December 13, 2019December 13, 2019 This year Disa has worked on some stunning commissions, including this bespoke textured 18k gold Marquise diamond. Disa made a range of one-off wide 18k gold reticulated rings, each one different to the last. The client fell in love with one of these rings and asked to have her inherited diamond added to it. The marquise shape of the white diamond was something a bit different. To highlight its shape Disa incorporated it in to the melted texture band by placing it on the edge of the ring. This creates an overhang effect that draws the eye down the finger when being worn. Many of Disa’s pieces have a sculptural element to them, something the client loved. It is details like the positioning of the stones, rough edges and textures that set these wearable sculptures apart. If you are interested in discussing options for bespoke work you can contact Disa via disa.allsopp@gmail.com. Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday! Emeralds for Autumn Posted on October 18, 2019October 18, 2019 Here in the workshop Disa has been working on some stunning new rings for Autumn. Particularly mesmerising are the Emeralds she has sourced and we thought we would like to feature them on this months blog post.Emeralds are part of the Beryl family, along with aquamarines and morganites. What differentiates them is the presence of chromium resulting in the rich green colour unique to emeralds. They are a rare stone due to the highly specific conditions needed to make them over thousands of years and sit at 7.5 – 8 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Despite this they can be fragile and need to be worn with care! All emeralds have inclusions, unique markings within the stone that occur during their natural growth in the ground. This makes each stone unique.Disa has been creating one off wide gold reticulated bands to create a rich setting for the wonderful examples she has sourced. We have one available on the Online Shop and also a stunning piece included in a fresh delivery of work at Dover Street Market, London. If you would like any information on these pieces do get in touch anytime by either emailing disa.allsopp@gmail.com or via the Contact Page.Enjoy the Autumn wherever you are, Fall for our friends across the water!18k gold textured wide ring with 2.10cts Emerald available from Dover Street Market18k gold textured ring with 4.4ct emerald available from DisaAllsopp.com Disa Allsopp at Goldsmiths’ Fair 2019 & Vogue Magazine Feature Posted on September 27, 2019September 27, 2019 Disa is exhibiting this week at Goldsmiths’ Fair, on until Sunday. This can take many forms from creating something to a clients brief, to re-working gemstones from inherited jewellery. Recently Disa has been working on some fun pieces for a returning client. D wanted an exciting piece to be created using diamonds from an eternity ring inherited from her mother. Disa sent some initial sketches over via email to start the conversation. From here ideas were narrowed down and a design confirmed. In these images you can see that the client is a fan of bold, unique rings and Disa was happy to oblige! A domed, textured silver ring with 18k gold draped over and diamonds scattered. We affectionally refer to it here in the workshop as The Cosmos Ring!If you would like to discuss an idea for a bespoke commissioned piece of jewellery then contact Disa by sending an email to disa.allsopp@gmail.com or sending her a message through the contact form. Rub-over settings frame the aquamarine and seven diamonds. The play of light between the aquamarine and 18k gold.
