Some Sparkle for the Holiday Season

Category: Uncategorized

This year Disa has worked on some stunning commissions, including this bespoke textured 18k gold Marquise diamond.

Disa made a range of one-off wide 18k gold reticulated rings, each one different to the last. The client fell in love with one of these rings and asked to have her inherited diamond added to it. The marquise shape of the white diamond was something a bit different. To highlight its shape Disa incorporated it in to the melted texture band by placing it on the edge of the ring. This creates an overhang effect that draws the eye down the finger when being worn.

Many of Disa’s pieces have a sculptural element to them, something the client loved. It is details like the positioning of the stones, rough edges and textures that set these wearable sculptures apart.

If you are interested in discussing options for bespoke work you can contact Disa via disa.allsopp@gmail.com.

Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday!

Here in the workshop Disa has been working on some stunning new rings for Autumn. Particularly mesmerising are the Emeralds she has sourced and we thought we would like to feature them on this months blog post.

Emeralds are part of the Beryl family, along with aquamarines and morganites. What differentiates them is the presence of chromium resulting in the rich green colour unique to emeralds. They are a rare stone due to the highly specific conditions needed to make them over thousands of years and sit at 7.5 – 8 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Despite this they can be fragile and need to be worn with care! All emeralds have inclusions, unique markings within the stone that occur during their natural growth in the ground. This makes each stone unique.

Disa has been creating one off wide gold reticulated bands to create a rich setting for the wonderful examples she has sourced. We have one available on the Online Shop and also a stunning piece included in a fresh delivery of work at Dover Street Market, London.

If you would like any information on these pieces do get in touch anytime by either emailing disa.allsopp@gmail.com or via the Contact Page.

Enjoy the Autumn wherever you are, Fall for our friends across the water!

Disa often works with clients to create bespoke commissioned pieces. This can take many forms from creating something to a clients brief, to re-working gemstones from inherited jewellery.

Recently Disa has been working on some fun pieces for a returning client. D wanted an exciting piece to be created using diamonds from an eternity ring inherited from her mother. Disa sent some initial sketches over via email to start the conversation. From here ideas were narrowed down and a design confirmed. In these images you can see that the client is a fan of bold, unique rings and Disa was happy to oblige! A domed, textured silver ring with 18k gold draped over and diamonds scattered. We affectionally refer to it here in the workshop as The Cosmos Ring!

If you would like to discuss an idea for a bespoke commissioned piece of jewellery then contact Disa by sending an email to disa.allsopp@gmail.com or sending her a message through the contact form.

‘Fire & Facets’ is the latest exhibition at the newly refurbished Gill wing Jewellery Gallery on Upper Street , London. Guest curated by New York Jewellery Blogger ‘A Thousand Facets’, the show features unique designs from leading contemporary jewellers featuring bespoke gems from Australia’s famous Lightning Ridge hand cut by palaeontology student Loren Gurche.

Disa was asked to take part in this collaboration at the beginning of the year. After selecting an Opal from Gurche’s collection she set about designing a ring that would best demonstrate the unique features of the Opal. It is set in 18k yellow Gold which adds a warmth to the piece and highlights the value of the Opal. The use of a rectangular cut Iolite creates a contrast with the organic shape of the Opal and picks out the purple and blue flashes within the stone. A wide, heavily textured band is reminiscent of the striking landscape that the Opal originates from.

Last night was the grand opening of the show at Gill Wing Jewellery. The fizz was flowing and visitors were treated to a multi-sensory celebration of the mysterious & beautiful opal. With over 20 Jewellery Designers, award winning perfumer Sarah McCartney at 4160 Tuesdays London, complemented by Richard Weston’s Opal print scarves, it was a busy and fun evening.

The exhibition continues to 16th September 2018, the knowledgable and welcoming staff at Gill Wing will talk you through the work designed especially for ‘Fire & Facets’, prepare to fall in love with the mysterious and enticing Opal!

Opal & Iolite Ring 1

We are excited to be returning to New York next month to take our latest collection of jewellery to NY Now, the high-end gift fair. Now a regular participant of the show, Disa will be on the stand for the whole show, held at the Javits Centre.

New York in August is fantastic as the sun shines every day and the restaurants and bars are buzzing. A favourite place to relax after a long day at NY Now is to walk along the beautiful High Line, a fantastic example of repurposed architecture and public planning. This takes you all the way down to the exciting Chelsea District, where you can visit Chelsea Market and sample all types of delicious food.

But what we really love about visiting New York is the response of visitors to NY Now when they come to our stand. The enthusiasm people show for unique, handmade, contemporary Craft and Design is inspiring!

We hope you can join us on our Stand 1363C at the Javits Centre between 12th – 15th August 2018.

We are thrilled to announce we are joining the growing number of British Designers on 1st Dibs, the luxury website for high end jewellery, furniture and interior design.

A capsule collection is now available for immediate delivery or to commission on request, including the classic Disa Allsopp ‘Spaghetti Ring’ and a selection of Diamond rings.

We are also featuring some of the most recent Cocktail rings. Followers of Disa’s work will know her eye for exquisite Gemstones is second to none, and we are adding these one off pieces as they are finished here in the studio. With the trend for statement colourful rings gaining momentum you can find the perfect piece to add to a stack or to wear alone for ultimate impact.

Also featured are some of Disa’s unique necklaces, her handmade irregular chain that she has been making and developing for the past few years. We have added Diamonds and Gemstone briollettes for extra sparkle and character.
